The Strategic Technologies Software Engineer - Advanced works for the Organization. Organization seeks a Web Interface Developer to be part of a cross-functional agile development team working on a new public website based on the IBM Portal application.

A successful candidate must be an expert in HTML, CSS, and Javascript, and have a thorough understanding of the many issues involving presentation layer code, including multi-browser compatibility, browser performance optimization, SEO, and accessibility.

Furthermore, the candidate should have significant experience working with application developers and incorporating HTML into application code (e.g. jsp, asp, php).

IBM Portal experience would be a very significant plus.

Beyond technical skills, the candidate must have good communication skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and must be willing to participate in product and development discussions with people from a variety of both technical and business backgrounds. Prior experience working in a formal Agile development methodology is highly desired.

Although travel will not be frequent, the candidate must be willing to fly up to Oakland occasionally.

This is highly responsible work maintaining and maturing web presence.

Will be responsible for creation of concept, design, testing and maintenance of web sites, pages and applications.

Will meet frequently with staff before and during project, to ascertain requirements, and also afterwards to train staff in the proper maintenance of web pages and proper use of web applications.

General duties will include advising web developers and management on all aspects of web development from technology to functionality to graphics.

Must be proficient in current HTML standards and aware of the differences between all the HTML version standards as adopted by the W3C, as well as future W3C standards, which are constantly being developed.

Must be proficient in JavaScript, DHTML, and XML.

Must be able to write server-side dynamic web pages such as Java Server Pages (JSP).

Must know how to optimize all formats for online viewing.

Must be able to write and debug code in straight text format, without the help of a GUI interface.
