Position : DataStage ETL Developer

Role Needed / Job Description:

DataStage ETL Developer

. Please ensure that candidate has DataStage 8.x experience, and working knowledge of Oracle database (SQL, PL/SQL).
. Ability to read and write effective, modular, dynamic and robust code, establish and follow already established code standards, experience with Change Data Capture, Slowly Changing Dimension Type 2, Surrogate Key Generator, Aggregator, Merge, Sort, Join, Lookup, Transformer, Filter, Shared Container Stages, utilization of Datasets, Parameter files and Parameter sets.
. Excellent troubleshooting & optimization skills: interpreting DataStage log files, SQL / Data validation, dissecting DataStage code at the UNIX OS level, understanding the benefits of parallelism, drawbacks and appropriateness of using the multi-node vs. single node processing; ability to understand and optimize the surrogate key generator behavior, date range and inconsistent data types handling.
. Understanding of DataStage abilities and limitations from a scheduling perspective: DataStage jobs vs. sequences, UNIX Cron and UNIX Shell scripting and ability to select the most optimal scheduling solution; ability to call DataStage jobs from the command line
. Ability to design jobs that can be easily promoted from one (Dev) environment to another (Test or Prod) seamlessly, without rewriting jobs.
. Clear understanding of DataStage and ETL best practices within an Oracle environment
. DataStage error handling, error propagation and email notification
Specific Qualifications Required (specialized skills, degrees, certification, etc.)
. 5+ years experience implementing ETL for Data Warehouse and Business intelligence solutions
. Deep familiarity with Oracle database technologies (9i & 10g)
. 3+ years with DataStage server / parallel addition (DataStage 8.x required)
. 5 years experience with scheduling ETL jobs using DataStage Scheduler, UNIX Cron, and external scheduling tool
. UNIX (Korn) Shell scripting and Perl development skills strongly preferred
